The African American artist named, Chris Ofili is a very interesting and creative artist. Chris Ofili was born in Manchester and flourished in his art experience in England, minus the six weeks when he visited Africa and from their he got the idea to use elephant dung as his specialty when he creates his masterpieces. He draws on a wide range of cultural references, from the Bible to jazz and hip hop music, from Blake and Rodin to pornographic magazines. He studied in London at Chelsea School or Art (1988-91) and the Royal College of Art (1991-3). In 1992 he was awarded a traveling scholarship to Zimbabwe, which has profoundly influenced his art. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Tate Gallery, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.” Chris Ofili had done many art pieces that were highly noted such as; The Holy Virgin Mary, No Woman, No Cry, and Afro Muses.
